ey you-
Does the Lord speak to you? What does He say? Well…the Lord spoke to Abram - a man who was born in Chaldean, and this is what he said, “Raise your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward, and eastward and westward; for all the land which you see I will give to you and to your descendants forever. I will make your descendants as plentiful as the dust of the earth, so that if anyone can count the dust of the earth, then your descendants could also be counted. Arise, walk about in the land through its length and width; for I will give it to you.” Genesis 13:14-18 How the Lord said this - I do not know. Did He appear to Abram like He had before? Or did He whisper these words in Abram’s ear? But I do know this - The Lord said them after Abram’s nephew, Lot, chose the land that appeared greener on the other side. Scripture says when Abram heard the Lord, “he moved his tent and came and lived by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron; and there he built an altar to the Lord.” Genesis 13:18 “The oaks of Mamre in Hebron” - today this location is in a neighborhood called Nimra, a Palestine city in the West Bank. Can you imagine the feud this must cause between the Arabs and the Jews? Since both the Arabs and the Jews look up to same God and the same man, Abram, as their Patriarch - they both must believe the land is theirs. But I have a feeling the answer to whose land this actually is lies in the story of “the promised seed" that was given to Abram and his bride at the Oak of Mamre in Hebron.
