“My punishment is more than I can bear.”
This is what Cain said to the Lord.
“Today you are driving me out
from the land, and I will be hidden
from your presence;
I will be a restless wanderer on the earth,
and whoever finds me will kill me.”
Oh Lord, I have a feeling
that writing these poetic sermons
is going to open up many heavenly doors!
My curiosity about the heavenly realm,
and about these interesting words -
are going to make me dive in even deeper
to explore the beauty of your Word.
So here I go!
Here is the first question I have for you,
Oh Holy Spirit.
How can Cain
be driven out from the land,
when that already happened
to his mom and dad
before Cain was born?
“So the Lord God banished him
(them) from the Garden of Eden
to work the ground from
which he (they) had been taken.
After he drove the man
(and woman) out,
he placed on the east side of
the Garden of Eden
cherubim and a flaming sword
flashing back and forth
to guard the way to the tree of life.”
First, I do not speak or understand
the Hebrew pronouns,
so I’m assuming
if Adam was removed from Eden,
then so was Eve
because the Scripture says they became One.
Second, the Lord placed an angel
on the East Side of the Garden
to guard the Tree of Life from mankind
who had already shown
they wanted to be like God.
In this description,
God says where the Tree of Life is.
It’s on the East side of the garden,
sitting firmly at the right hand of God,
deeply rooted and can not be moved.
Praise be to Jesus!
So, here is next question, Oh, Holy Spirit -
Since Adam and Eve had become One,
and were removed from the Garden, and
sent back to the dirt from which had come,
then how is God sending Cain to Nod,
east of Eden,
where that is exactly where
he seems to be coming from?
“Then Cain went out
from the presence of the Lord
and dwelt in the land of Nod
on the east of Eden.”
How Far East is not good?
Where exactly were Adam and Eve put,
and where exactly did Cain go?
Where is the Garden of Eden -
and where is Nod, east of Eden?
Are these physical locations,
or are these distances from God,
or could they be both?
If anyone knows, please disclose!
I’ll save my next question for tomorrow.
It has to do with vengeance
and the meaning of sevenfold.
