Yesterday, while reading about the transfiguration of Jesus, in Matthew Chapter 17, I saw the transformation of tents. The scripture says, “As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light.” “A bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.” Let me ask, “Did you see the glorious light pouring out of Him?” He was like a rising sun coming over a mountain and spilling out over the land. Just like the breaking dawn! And did you hear the Voice of God identify Jesus as His Son? Did you hear God give all authority to Him? It’s absolutely amazing and humbling at the same time. In an instant, Jesus was transformed from a physical tent to His true spiritual essence. His body was limited. It diminished His full potential, and yet, it was created to fulfill God’s purpose. You see, our Creator took on flesh so that He could use His own blood to cover our transgressions. Only God could break the curse that He spoke over us as told in the third chapter of Genesis. And because God loves us much, He made a way to redeem mankind by creating a faithful remnant, a kingdom of priests who would unconditionally and unequivocally love Him. You see, The purpose for man has never changed. It’s always been the same - to live according to God’s blessing, "Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and subdue it.” Genesis 1:27-28 And His command is this, “The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31 Because… “If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.” “If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.” “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” “Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!” “Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!” “But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless.” “When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.” “Three things will last forever - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 Since I am under the Winepress, let me express - I don’t know much, but I do know this… these tents that we currently live in, will fade away. One day, we will die and be born again. What I mean is, those who love God and each other, will be resurrected to new life to live with Him. You see, we cannot truly love ourselves or others, until we love God. We cannot truly love unless we understand and truly believe that our current condition is just temporary. If we understand and believe that Heaven and Earth are condemned for fatality, then we will see “God so loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” You see, “God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.” “All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.” John 3:16-21 Can you see it? Do you understand? We are already dead even though we live! But this body that we live in is just a tent. It’s temporary and conditional. One day, we will rise and stand before the Judge who knows the intent of our heart! When I first started this poem I thought I would focus on the transformation of tents, but Holy Spirit took me to a deeper place - He showed me HOW the tent is transformed! He showed me that His light is pure love, and now He is showing me how to express it. Did you know, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.” John 15:13 Did you know that you did not choose Christ? He chose you! “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. This is my command: Love each other.” John 15:16-17 So, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and subdue it.” Genesis 1:27-28 Humans are not supposed to dominate humans through power and control. We are equals. Humans are to subdue the earth and govern over it. We do this as benevolent leaders, just like Jesus. But I exhort you, to be on the lookout! The devil is like a lion roaring about! But God has said that He plans to make a new Heaven and a new earth as he revealed to John! And this time, He won’t be sending Jesus, the sacrificial lamb, to express His love. He’ll be sending Jesus, the Lion of Judah, to exercise His wrath!
