Father, when grief fills my heart, and it feels like I am being torn apart, remind me that I abide in you, and that your Spirit does not depart. But it’s not for me that I now pray, it’s for my friend Patti, who typically brightens my days. She knows just what to say when things aren’t going my way. She’s a woman with so much strength, she has bore the brunt of trials and decay. Yet, she stays grounded in your ways and reminds me to rejoice for today. She is a woman who wears her own style. Her eyes twinkle when she sees you smile, and she wears wisdom like a cloak. She sees things as they are and doesn’t try to blow smoke. With such grace she offers advice, always to gather not break. She is truly compassionate and always willing to share her space. Her words are kind Her motive is true Her desire is to give honor to you. Her laughter is contagious and her presence is warm through and through. She’s a woman of love, a woman who cares, a woman who understands your grace. I can only imagine the ministering your doing while you have her in this place. I pray for her husband and for her daughter and sons; I pray they will find comfort in your loving arms. Omnipresent, that’s who you are. Everywhere at all times, it’s true. Father God, I trust and believe that you know just what to do. I pray for your spirit of healing to come her way. I pray for this, on this day! So as we trust you, help us to know what to do. And Lord, help me to be the person that she is to me. Written May 13, 2020 To the woman with the heart of gold, now is the time for your story to unfold. All these years you have focused on others, bringing your love to those down under. When we were sad, you held our hand. When we were blue, you said “God loves you.” When we were angry, you said “Are you hungry?” Then we’d go get a meal and forget the whole ordeal. When a mean word cut, you would apply a Patti tourniquet. When division came, you would divert the blame. When the walls were closing in, you would open a door - You would offer a new perspective for us to explore. You had so much grace in all that you did. You knew just how to love and how to forgive. I am a better person because of you. You taught me it’s okay to be humble and true. Oh my beautiful friend, I already miss you.
