I have a question.
Revelation 20 verse 5 and 6 says, “This is the first resurrection. (The rest of the dead did not come back to life until the thousand years had ended.) Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him a thousand years.” Revelation 11 verses 11 and 12 says, “But after three and a half days, God breathed life into them, and they stood up! Terror struck all who were staring at them. Then a loud voice from heaven called to the two prophets, “Come up here!” And they rose to heaven in a cloud as their enemies watched.” When I first read Revelation Chapter 11, I thought the two witnesses represented the two lamp stands who stand before God that have nothing against them. I thought that perhaps, the two prophets were the Smyrna and Philadelphia church. I thought this was the rapture - the first resurrection of Christ's devoted Church. But now, in reading Chapter 20, and listening to what John said, I’m not sure I had a correct interpretation of the two witnesses - it is so hard to tell. Revelation 20:4 says, “Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.” Revelation 20:4 Scripture says THIS is the first resurrection - the rising of “dead” people who are made alive to rule and reign for 1000 years with Jesus Christ! So my question is this - If the two witnesses are NOT the unblemished church lamp stands that stand before God, then who are these two prophets that die, resurrect and ascend into Heaven? If you think you can answer this question of mine, then please provide scripture to back up your answer. Thank you for your help!
