Today I am going to talk about
the shape of the New Jerusalem. It is square, not rectangular or round. Revelation 21 verse 16 says, “The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide.” We know this is accurate because the angel who talked with John had a gold measuring rod, and he measured the city, its gates and its walls, and it he found it to be 1,400 miles in length, and as wide and high as it is long" - that’s about the half the distance of the United States. The angel also measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 216 feet which is more than two football fields deep! Can you imagine a city this size? A holy city that comprises the wonderful bride of Christ. Now the scripture also says that the New Jerusalem has no temple, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. That’s right! There is no building that will contain the Spirit of God - for the Lord and the Lamb will be right in plain sight. And the city has no need of sun or of moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. Revelation 21:22-23
