Summary of sermon from Pastor Brian Broadway
at Living Message Church according to the way the Lord has perked my ears to hear it. Every author of the Bible comes from the blood line of the Hebrew except the Gentile man known as Luke. Luke is the person who God chose to write down more detail and more words than any other man in the Word of God. Luke addressed the line of David and the line of Aaron- the priest and prophet who prepared for the coming of Jesus, Christ our King. Luke tells the story about what Jesus did when He was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to test His heart. We saw how Jesus used God’s armor and the Sword of the Spirit to resist the trap of darkness, set by Satan. When Jesus returned to Galilee he contained the power of the Holy Spirit. The idea of a synagogue came from a time of desperation. The synagogue was a gathering place for God’s people during the days of Nebuchadnezzar; a place where the Word of God was established on a strong foundation. We will do well to remember that the Church, the Body of Christ, is not a social club, or a popular clique to be a part of. The Church is a place where the citizens of Heaven are called to gather. The model of the church has to be biblical - Christ is the Head of a body that is supposed to follow. “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but think of yourself with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and not all members have the same function, so in Christ we who are many are one body, and each member belongs to one another. We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If one’s gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith; if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:3-8 As we walk through every day life we have choices to make. Our prayer is that the spirit of wisdom and revelation of God will fill the hearts and minds of everyone. Out of the foundation of God, the root of Christ, Words of wisdom shall come. The 7 Spirits Of God are actually combined into One. The hearing and influence of the Holy Spirit is to become fully mature and define God’s purpose. “For who among men knows the thoughts of man except his own spirit within him? So too, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.” 1 Corinthians 2:11-13 We do not want the Spirit of this world, for it is in opposition to the Lord our God. “The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 We have the mind of Christ when we align our will to what God says. The Holy Spirit resides in the hearts of God’s children; for greater is the volume of the Good News that comes from God’s people. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor in spirit; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:18-19 May the Lord continue to grow His faith in the submitted body, the Body of Christ.
