When the angel of death comes to grab your hand,
what will you see when you look back at this land? The question is real, although most ignored. I mean really, what’s it all for if we don’t bring glory to the Lord? How will you be remembered when your time on this earth is done? Will you be remembered for the pain you caused or will you be remembered for tending to those who bled? Don’t be deceived for the truth is plain. You will surely march down one of these two opposing lanes. Either you will be remembered for expressing great humility, or you will be remembered for prideful cruelty. While trials come to all of us, grace is given to those who trust. Those who lean on the Lord for their own understanding will give grace without demanding. They allow people to be free. They encourage people to open their heart to see. They show love unconditionally because they are a vessel for God’s glory. They endure the mock and the jeer. They live for peace and show kindness to peers. They yield to another while grounding their feet, they choose love over defeat. They do not try to defend when they’ve made a mistake, they own their wrongs and choose to forsake. They take care of others and tend to their needs. They heal the broken-hearted instead of causing them to bleed. But there is an opposing lane to walk, it’s for those who are selfish who like to talk. Humility is not in their stock. They grow their pride by how they mock. Their walk is upright, so proud and tall. They walk on people and press on another so they don’t fall. They live off their accomplishments and they feed off of strife. They are self-absorbed by their own life. They do not have have the ability to sacrifice because they make they make their own rope and hold on tight. They think their ideas are the only one to see. They are not willing listen, or concede. They like to blame and bring people to their knees. They like to shame and cause people to bleed. So if you have time to make a change, I’d encourage you to stop and look at your lane. Which direction are walking in? The lane of humility, or the lane of pride instead? Where are you finding yourself to be? Is it the one that brings him glory? Before you are summoned to go to court, choose the character you want to report. And if you don't know what lane your in, ask your neighbor where you have been. Sometimes it's hard to see, when you've had a log in your eye that's the size of a tree. You can always reflect on how you feel, while reading this poem and noticing what it yields. If all else fails, and you don't know what to say, you can consider this question, do not be afraid. "What comes out of your mouth when you begin to speak? Do you speak life or do your words cut like a knife?" This is a good question, a good place to start, because it speaks to the truth within your heart.
