Sometimes, when we want to convey an important message, it’s best to use metaphors. A metaphor is a figure of speech that directly refers to one thing by mentioning another for rhetorical effect. For instance, instead of saying “I am happy” I might say “My eyes are full of sunshine.” A metaphor is like an allegory - a picture, story or poem that is used to expose the hidden meaning behind something strong. Did you know that Jesus used allegories all the time? He shared simple stories called Parables to reveal spiritual truths. Time and time again, when Jesus spoke to people about the Kingdom of Heaven, he used visual stories - much like the Prophets of old. Did you know that I used to believe that Jesus was metaphorically speaking in order to provide clarity into the hidden meanings of spiritual things. But now that I write, I believe the opposite is true. Jesus isn’t trying to hide anything from the children of God. He is speaking a language that is shared between siblings - brothers and sisters who are imagers of God. Metaphorically speaking, the proof is in the pudding. We need to understand that everything is given in the Word. You see, When the spirit of the reader matches the spirit of the writer - the scripture makes total sense! The Holy Spirit in NOT a person who is full of bullshit or nonsense! The Word of God is not bent! In fact it is completely straight and has a perfect plumb-line. It’s full of truth, faithfulness, unfailing love and endurance. Since God is the alpha and omega, He does not leave any rock unturned. He does not leave any question unanswered. All we have to do is dig into the scripture. It's all there! The answers to every life problem can be found. Jesus tells us very clearly why he spoke in parables. He said, “As my disciples, you are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not.” “To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge." "But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away.” “That is why I use these parables, For they look, but they don’t really see. They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand.” This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says, “When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend. For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes - so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’ But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.” Matthew 13:10-17 Isn't God good? He rewards those who are in love with him. Jesus said, “To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge." The more we pay attention and dig into scripture, the more we grow in Holy Spirit wisdom. The Holy Spirit reveals that truth is only hidden from those who have hardened their hearts towards God. If there is any opposition to getting into the Word, or understanding what it says then we must take a long look inside - because the proof is in the pudding. The heart of a person can only be determined by putting it to the test - and appearances must be set aside. May those who ears to hear, hear. May those who have eyes to see, see. #Maranatha
